The Bride and Groom
Bride’s Name: Diana Thiele (Perez)
Groom’s Name: Stefan Thiele
Wedding Date: May 28, 2016
How you met your fiancé? Stefan and I were both working at the same school, in Denia, Valenciana, Spain. Our summer romance started with the 2014 FIFA World Cup, he cheered with me for Mexico, and I with him when Germany won. I returned to Texas to start my Master’s program and he to Germany working as a food technologist at a vineyard. He came to the U.S. to meet my family in October and in December my Christmas present was a flight to Germany to meet his family and to experience the Christmas markets and traditions.
How did he propose? Stefan’s second time in the U.S was for my birthday in April and his the week after. We were discussing our plans for the future, since long distance relationships are tough and going back and forth every 3 (and sometimes 6 months!) wasn’t the most cost friendly and was emotionally draining It was May when we went on a family road trip to see the Grand Canyon for the first time. We went down the Bright Angel trail and 6 hours later on mile 3 of the way back up he proposed! It was the energy we needed to finish the hike up!
Your Bridal Gown &Accessories
Who was the wedding gown designer, and what was the style? Allure Bridals 9267
Favorite Feature about your dress: The crystal beaded corset back and sweetheart neckline were the perfect touch of glamour I opted for a birdcage veil specifically to highlight them. I also loved the ruffled organza skirt for a major wow factor.
How did you know your dress was “the one”? I put it on and what felt like 5 minutes was actually an hour of me twirling in the dress! I didn’t want to take it off.
Describe your experience at Pence and Panache. We had actually come a year before to purchase my older sister’s wedding gown and just knew that we had to come back when it was my time. We loved the personalized attention, Lydia was the best consultant we had. The full runway and mirrors are perfect to see the whole picture of yourself in the dress. Celebrating with mimosas was the best way to finish saying yes to the dress.
What accessories did you choose to accent your dress: A Birdcage veil and teardrop earrings.
Your Wedding Day
Wedding Venue: My husband’s hometown in Großhartmannsdorf, Germany. The church was from 1746 with the original Silbermann Organ and bells, and the reception was at a lake house with a surrounding forest.
Who was your Wedding Photographer: J W Daniels Photography
What was your “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue”? Something old and something borrowed were my Grandmother’s pearl teardrop earrings, they are gold and silver with a bow at the top. My something blue was an aquamarine ring my older sister Nydia gave me shortly after my engagement. My something new were two Chanel lipsticks, since my family knows I can’t have just one!
What is your #1 tip for brides in the planning process? Take over the tasks most important to you and delegate the rest. Your wedding party is there to help you, so assign them tasks to ease the load. It’s impossible to do everything yourself.
How do you describe the theme of your wedding? Fairy Tale come true, except with multicultural flavor of the real world since the Bride is Mexican and the Groom is German.
What color palette did you select? Our color palette was fuchsia, tangerine and gold. We had a summer wedding so we wanted bright colors. My favorite color is gold and his favorite colors are orange and red so we picked colors that were similar.
Do you have any advice for brides who are still searching for their perfect bridal gown? Don’t take everyone with you to try on dresses, wait until you’ve narrowed it down to the top 2-3 to avoid getting too many opinions. Ultimately get the dress that fits you and your personality.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day? Knowing that for one day the people we loved the most were with us to celebrate the beginning of our marriage. Walking down the aisle with my father as my support, and passing by the friends and family who helped raise me until I reached my groom at the end Also the boat ride with my husband during our reception, it was good to have a moment to take it all in.
